He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Joann Shoemake, his son Duane, daughter Tamalyn, daughter in law Vanessa, grandson Eric, great granddaughter Isabella Hendry and his sister Alice Brewer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother MH Hendry, sisters Halimah Hendry and Josie Brown.
He was a proud American who loved his country and served in the U.S. Army during both WWII and Korea. Carl was an active member of Houston River Baptist church. He retired from Citgo after 41 years of service. He was a great friend to many and will be missed by all that knew him.
Funeral services for Carl will be Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 2pm at Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mimosa Pines South in Carlyss. Visitation will begin on Saturday, January 31 from 2pm till 6pm and will resume on Sunday from 12pm until time of service.
