Chapin was a native of Uncas, Oklahoma and had been a resident of Sulphur for 60 years, coming from Ponca City, Oklahoma. He retired from Conoco after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Jacques was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Jacques Laningham and husband, Walt of Medina, Tennessee, Susan Jacques of Lake Charles, and Marcy Jacques Byrd and husband, Lee of Sulphur; step-daughter, Jeanette Youngblood Savoie of Sulphur; brother-in-law, Keith Havens and wife, Charlotte of Vinton; sister-in-law, Wilma Tague of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two spouses, Lois Ann Rozell Jacques and Colleen Havens Jacques; his sister, Patricia Jacques Gay; and two step-daughters, Joan Youngblood Franklin and Patricia Youngblood Clement.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 3, in First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Dr. David Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
