

Charles was raised in Lake Charles, was a resident of Sulphur, and retired in Toledo Bend. He retired as a crew boat captain with over 45 years of experience. Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed going to the local auction every Friday night and fishing. He was a one of a kind man with his wonderful unique personality and being a prankster. He loved spending quality time his family and grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mary Montie of Toledo Bend; two daughters, Regina Lyons and husband Cecil Jr. of Carlyss, Charlene Moody and husband Beau of Sulphur; five grandchildren, Desiree Bauer and husband Brandon, Kaylee Jo Moody, Caitlin Miller, Kasen Moody, Gavin Lyons; two great-grandchildren, Kade Miller and Bryson Bauer; three brothers, John Montie and wife Denise of Toledo Bend, Randy Montie of Shreveport, Bryan Robinson and wife Cathy of Toledo Bend; three sisters, Louella Crochet and Barbara McGoldrick of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Ellen Robinson of Evadale, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joe Montie and Ozsid Kegley; stepmother, Lorraine Montie; one brother, Mark Montie; one sister, Beverly Breaux.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, in the Hixson Sulphur Memorial Chapel of Sulphur. Father Paul Jessen will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday with a rosary at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Burial will in the Mimosa Pines Cemetery north in Sulphur.
