He was a native and lifelong resident of Cameron before moving to Sulphur five years ago. Charlie Ray enjoyed watching football, being outdoors, watching wildlife, and was an animal lover.
Survivors include his daughters, Denise Murphy Smith of Winchester, Kentucky, Shelli Fontenot and husband, David of Sulphur, and Dana Murphy of St. Gabriel; two sisters; his grandson whom he raised, Charles Cade Murphy of Sulphur, along with six other grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and his former wife, who was his friend and mother of his children, Sharon Murphy. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Delana Murphy Most.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 28, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Willie Bellard will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
