

A lifelong resident of Sulphur and a 1940 graduate of Sulphur High School, Charles was a longtime operator with W. R. Grace. His greatest love was his wife, three sons and their families for he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had a lifelong love of baseball as a player, coach and fan. He was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elgene Guillotte Venissat; children Charles Venissat, Jr (Kay), Raymond V. Venissat (Becky) and Jonathan W. Venissat (Lynn); sister Hazel Stine; grandchildren Brandi Earl, Erin Guillory, Kelli Habetz, Leslie Venissat, Kristi Brashear, Christopher Venissat, Nikki Bloxton, Morgan Venissat and River Venissat ; great grandchildren Abbi, Viv, Jo and Corinne Earl, Luke and Jude Guillory, Tanner, Hayden and Lani Habetz and Trenton Brashear.
Pallbearers will be Josh Earl, Brian Guillory, Keith Habetz, Jody Brashear, Marty Busch and Mark Johnson. Honorary pall bearers will be Christopher and River Venissat and Tanner Habetz.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 am, Monday, January 24, 2011 from Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church under direction of Hixson – Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Father James Winiarski officiated. Burial was in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation was in the funeral home on Sunday from 4 until 8 pm with a 6 pm rosary led by Deacon Maurice Serice. Visitation continued on Monday from 8:30 am until 9:30 am.
