

He was a native of Mermentau and was a longtime resident of Sulphur. Clifford was an avid bass guitar player and played with local bands in the area. He passed this love onto his oldest son and grandson. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a special love for all babies.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elvoloyce Benoit of Sulphur; two sons, Clifford Benoit, Jr. and wife, Christine of Moss Bluff, and Ronald Benoit of Sulphur; six siblings, Herbert Benoit, Edward Benoit, Emma Domingue and Verda Bertrand, all of Sulphur, Wallace Benoit of Lake Charles, and Linda Faye Gobert of Carlyss; and his two grandchildren, Brandon and Alexandra Benoit. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Beulah Benoit; and two brothers, Newton and Leonard Benoit.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. today with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
