Elijah proudly served in the United States Army, served in the Korean Conflict, and retired as a Pipe Fitter from PPG industries. Elijah was a member of Olivet Baptist Church and Lions Club in Carlyss. He enjoyed reading his western library and worked all types of puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Mae Cobb, daughter, Kathy Venable, great-grandson, Devon Venable, parents, Elijah and Anna Bell, and five siblings, Fred, Daniel, Rachel, Rosalie, and Emma.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, James Northcutt and wife, Tracey, Edward Cobb and wife, Lindy, and Renee Shoemake and husband, Howard; son-in-law, Patrick West; grandchildren, Clyde Venable and wife, Julianne, Christopher Venable, Chance Shoemake, Ashleigh Johnson and husband, Jacob, Cody Northcutt, Raven Gibson and husband, David and Owen Foreman; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Harry.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel. Rev. Kevin Craft will officiate. Burial will follow in Castor Cemetery in Leesville.
