

George, a lifelong Sulphur resident, was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He and his wife owned G.L.'s Discount Store in Sulphur for 20 years. George loved playing golf and he founded the Jr. Golf program in Sulphur and served on the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Board.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Iuna Duhon Gabriel; nieces, Waddette Reeves, Mary Kay Stoma, Laressia Gabriel and Belinda Coleman; and nephews, Dean Taylor, Joe Taylor,Dwain Gabriel and Ellis Hassien. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Gabriel, Sisters, Annie Kury, Josephine Smith, Helen Walker, Kay Swafford, Inez Jackson, Mabel Stoma and Mathilda Taylor; brother, Albert Gabriel; and nephews, Jimmy Hassien and James Taylor.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jack Myers will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 - 8 p.m on Tuesday and resume Wednesday at 8 - 9:45 am in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
