Gloria Walters McCollough

Gloria was born in Many, La. on August 19, 1927 to Oda Hildebrand Walters and Robert Lewis Walters. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1944. She attended Northwestern State University and graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She taught for the Calcasieu Parish School System, and retired after twenty-five years of teaching. She was a longtime member of Houston River Baptist Church. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, great & great-great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Penny McCollough Callens of Sulphur; two granddaughters, Teri Goleman(Ernie) of Eunice, La., and Toni Lafleur of Sulphur; five great-grandchildren, Emily Scuderi(Nick) of Lake Charles, Joshua Goleman and fiancé, Jenna Brady of Sulphur, Amber Carruth(Gavin) of Denham Springs, La., Cameron Lafleur of Sulphur, Kole Goleman of Eunice, La.; and four great-great-grandchildren, Owen Scuderi, Noah and Sawyer Carruth, and Kenzleigh Goleman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen S. McCollough Jr, and her parents.

Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Houston River Baptist Church in Sulphur with Reverend Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.
