He was a native and lifelong resident of the Sulphur-Carlyss area. Richard worked as an insulator in the local industries for many years before his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Brenda Bevil of Carlyss; his children, Heather Bevil of Sulphur, Trent Bevil of DeQuincy, and Dustin Bevil of Sulphur; his siblings, Donna Sitting and husband, Aaron, John Bevil, Benny Istre and wife, Anna, Angelina "Angie" Lampton (Leslie McClelland), and Ora Lynn Crawford; and four grandchildren, Alexander Bevil, Zachary Bevil, Isabella Bevil, and Kirkland Bevil. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Ben Istre.
