He was a native of Vinton and resided in Hackberry for 51 years. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Hackberry where he was a sponsor of the Catholic Youth Organization for 13 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jerry loved hunting, fishing and camping. He cherished the time spent with all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Danita Mitchell; his children, Chasitie Mitchell of Sulphur, Charitie Mancuso and husband, Tony of Carlyss, and Cade Mitchell and wife, Chelsey of Carlyss; and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Mitchell and Josephine Bishop; siblings, James Mitchell II, Art Mitchell, Jim Earl Mitchell, Lloyd Mitchell and Collins Mitchell.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held by the family in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Arvind Minz officiated. Burial was held at Hackberry Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
