John "Unc" Taft Nugent, 93, of Sulphur, Louisiana, but more recently he lived in Gonzales, Louisiana. He passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born to his late parents, John Michael and Lenia Nugent on May 11, 1932 in Plaucheville, Louisiana. He worked for Solar Supply for 15 years before retiring. He was proud of his service in the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. John enjoyed traveling in his RV from state to state. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whom he loved very much.
He is survived by his niece, Melinda Wald (Kevin) of Gonzales, Louisiana; two nephews, Gary Mayeaux (Denise) of Pineville, Louisiana and Randy Mayeaux of Bunkie, Louisiana.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Joyce Nugent; two sisters, Marceline Rabalais and Helen Mayeaux; along with his nephew, Michael Rabalais.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 am, with the Very Reverend Edward J. Richard, MS, VF officiating. Visitation will be at the church hall on Thursday, beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
