Joseph Bertrand Jr., age 93, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born on Saturday, October 27, 1928 in Basile, Louisiana to Exal and Avia Bertrand who have preceded him in death.
Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and worked as an Ammunition Specialist and a Linesman. Joseph was an Usher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for well over 60 years. Joseph retired from Firestone after over 35 years. Joseph was known as a "Jack of all trades" even well up into his 90's! In his younger years he loved traveling and camping with his wife and sons all over the United States.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Mabel Ardoin Bertrand; son, Gary Bertrand and wife, Mary; son, Kenneth Bertrand and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Michael Bertrand, Christopher Bertrand (Debbie), Heather Webb (Weston), Wyatt Bertrand, and Matthew Bertrand; four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Gracie, Sophie, and Vivian; sister, Margie Rougeou; brother, Donald Ray Bertrand; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will begin from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Goodly officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
