Josephine Lydia "Josy" Colligan, age 89, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Josephine was born May 19, 1930 in Church Point, LA and moved to Sulphur when Josy was a teenager.
Josy raised her children in the St. Theresa Catholic Church and Our Lady's School Community. Josy worked two jobs to finish raising her children with the help of loving family and friends. She loved butterflies, going to rodeos, travel trailer camping, and traveling in general. Josy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Belinda St. Romain McConnell, son-in-law, Randy Nassar, parents, Bertrand and Louisiana Higginbotham Colligan, brothers, Joe Colligan and Jimmy Colligan, sister-in-law, Grace Colligan, and brothers-in-law, Ted Willis and John Goff.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Gerald Gilbert(Florence); daughter, Gina Nassar; son, Scott Gilbert; son, Ron Gilbert(Mindy); grandchildren, Guillaume Gilbert(Jenna), Dana Morris(Dustin), Claire Gilbert, and Erin Gilbert; one great-grandchild, Jentry Grace, and one on the way; brother, Cecil Colligan(Barbara); sister, Norma Willis Goff; sister, Theresa Michels(Richard); sister, Caroll Portie(Troy); and numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
