Linda Joyce Nelson Thibodeaux graced the world with her presence in Port Arthur, Texas on November 29, 1949, the first child of Nora and B Elmer Nelson. The good Lord wrapped her in His loving arms and tenderly took her back on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Sulphur, LA, led by Mother Ally Perry. Interment to follow in the church Columbarium. In keeping with COVID protocol, attendees are kindly asked to wear masks and respect safe distancing.
Linda was a LaGrange High School graduate. She began McNeese State College on a vocal music scholarship, later majoring in accounting. For several years she enjoyed singing with the Messianic “Messiah Chorus” Choir, in stage productions, church choirs, sitting in on jam sessions, and personal concerts while driving.
She made lifetime friends while working at local accounting firms, and was retired from Joe Stoma Wholesale after 36 years of loyal dedication. She was a great travel companion, band mom, hunting camp cook, fishing and golfing buddy, assistant gardener, natural healing enthusiast and selfless giver. She is most remembered for her huge caring heart. Seldom anyone anywhere crossed her path without receiving a smile, an encouraging word, and a hug if she could.
Left in her sweet shadow are husband, E.J. Thibodeaux, Jr., son Charlie Thibodeax and wife Julie, grandchildren Kade and Ethan Adams (Diana), and Lakyn Constance, 5 great-grandchildren. Also sisters, Wanda N. Borel, Karen N. Smith (Martin), brother David G Bunch, caring brother-in-law, Gary Barnes and wife, Connie, special sisters-in-law JoAnn Stitely and Diane Chesson, a host of other cherished in-laws, out-laws; and awesome nieces and nephews, many great and grand, all adored by their Aunt Linda.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers Gary and Timothy Nelson, brother-in-law Ron Borel, brother-in-heart Eddie Barnes, and beloved mother-in-law Corrine Barnes and her husband, Edward Barnes.
Linda would want you to honor her memory by passing it forward– saying a kind word to someone today, giving one of your smiles to someone without their own, saving a baby squirrel or rescuing a stray.
The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Brighton Bridge Hospice who became faithful friends over the years – please know you each made a difference on this long journey. We are abundantly grateful for the caring hands and heart of our special angel, Lanie Blanco, that has tirelessly made the hardest days brighter for Linda and those she loved.
