She was a native of Morgan City and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 84 years. MaBear retired from W.T. Henning Elementary School in 1990 after 30 years of service as a teacher. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, and had previously served on the parish council, the bereavement committee, and as a lector and greeter.
Survivors include her children, Alan Hebert and wife, Donna of Lafayette, Ross Hebert of Scott, Angie Wingate and husband, Gary of Sulphur, and Edward "Eddie" Hebert and wife, Burnadine of Lake Charles; her brother, Lelan LaBorde of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Aaron Hebert, Brian Hebert, Joel Hebert, Jordan Hebert, Michael Wingate, Wendy Wingate, Britt Drummond, and Nick Drummond; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "Drew" Hebert; her daughter-in-law, Therese Hebert; and her sister-in-law, Johnette LaBorde.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Caraway will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
