She was a native of Morgan City and had been a longtime resident of Cameron until she moved to Sulphur after Hurricane Rita. She loved playing baseball in her younger years and had received the nickname "Slugger". She enjoyed watching game shows and playing board and card games. Ruth adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and the rest of her family.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Glenda Stevens of Sulphur; her siblings, Roger Stevens of Morgan City and Della Stevens of Spring, Texas; her grandchildren, Curtis David Stevens II, Misty Lynn Driver, Alvin James Stevens, and Tammy Lynn Tuttle; sixteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Felix Stevens and Irma Plessala Stevens; her son, Curtis David Stevens; her siblings, Sterling Stevens and Miriam Stevens; and a grandson, Ronald Numa Stevens.
A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux.
