A native of Gueydan, she had lived in Sulphur for the last 43 years. Merna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her husband Luke “Duggie” Dugas; mother Audrey Moore; daughters Stephanie Myers and husband Joe, Cathy Smith and husband Bryan and Gay Lynn Sheehan and husband Robert; step children Allen Dale Dugas and wife Mary Kay and Gay Lynn Dugas; brother Wilson Abshire; sister Gloria Moore; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Wilson Abshire; son Alfa “Rocky” Vincent, Jr; great granddaughter Gracie Danielle Marshall; step daughter Kimberly Ann Dugas; step grandson Justin Dugas; sister Shirley Korman.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Hixson – Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Randall Chesson will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South in Carlyss. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 11 am until 9 pm on Wednesday and from 9 am on Thursday.
