With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mitchell Glynn Kyle of Hackberry, Louisiana. Mitchell passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at the tender age of 81 on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at home.
Mitchell and his twin brother Michael were New Year's babies born in Crowley, Louisiana in 1945. They were the last of five children born to Albert and Kakkie Kyle.
Mitchell was an avid sports fan watching countless hours of sports. Mitchell and Michael played basketball in high school and later attended Wharton Junior College and McNeese State University on basketball scholarships. Mitchell enjoyed following basketball games all over the state, and he especially enjoyed following and keeping up with his nephew, Kyle Jinks.
Mitchell proudly served his country by enlisting in the Navy in 1965. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1969, Mitchell returned to Hackberry, Louisiana where he met and married his wife, Billie Jean Simon Kyle. Their love produced three children that they were extremely proud of and coached throughout their younger years.
Mitchell began his career in the oilfield working for Mobil Oil in 1969 in Johnson Bayou. There he met many of his life-long friends, many of which he thought of more like brothers than friends. After retiring from Mobil Oil in 1998, Mitchell took a few months off and decided it was time for him to go back to work. He ended his career with the Wood Group in 2016.
Mitchell was blessed to share his final years with Midge Trahan Parker, who brought immense love, laughter and light back into his life. Mitchell's family will be forever grateful for the happiness, joy and companionship they shared.
He is survived by his partner, Midge Trahan Parker of Lafayette; his sister, Florence Billiot (Dan) of Indian Village; children, Tiffany Kyle Martin (David) of Sulphur, Tila Stansel (Will DuBroc) of Hackberry and Mitchell Layne Kyle (Brandy) of Moss Bluff; his five grandchildren, Torri Jinks (Brandon), John David Martin (Kayla), Laci Stansel, Cameron Kyle and Ethan Kyle; his pride and joys, his four great grandchildren, Miya, Taylie, Finn and Marcie; his sister-in-law Jean Kyle; and many nieces and nephews that he loved like his own.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Billie Jean Simon Kyle; his parents, Albert and Kakkie; his brother Ernest Kyle; his twin brother Michael Kyle; his sister, Sally Busby and his granddaughter, Kayla Bartholamew as well as many beloved animals.
Sometimes the most important thing a dad can do is to be there for his family-working hard behind the scenes, making sure the people he loves are taken care of, and providing them with everything they need. That was our Daddy.
A Celebration of Mitchell's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 10:30 am, with Rev. James Moore officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
