He was a native of Kaplan and had been a resident of Carlyss for nearly 60 years. Pete had many trades but worked mostly as a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, training horses, working cattle, and caring for his beloved horse, Jake. He also loved his family immensely.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Saltzman of Carlyss; his sons, Brent G. Saltzman of Kingwood, Texas, Blain H. Saltzman of Moss Bluff, and Brady N. Saltzman of Carlyss; his sister, Sirena Rogers of New Iberia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
A Celebration of Pete's Life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, March 14th, at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson's Celebrant, Jody Tyler.
