Tommy Griffith

Tommy was born July 5, 1949 in Orange, TX and raised in Johnson Bayou where he lived most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army from August 18, 1969 to January 12, 1973 serving in Germany and was honorary discharged.

Tommy lived in Arlington, TX where he was a supervisor for Johnson and Johnson for 23 years. He returned to Johnson Bayou, remarried and worked for Enbridge. He raised Emus and worked cows with his dad and friends. He enjoyed most sports, but his favorites were football and basketball. He also was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved watching westerns, sci-fi, chiller movies, and eating pizza weekly at Mr. Gatti's with his wife. He read many western books and lost his Louis L'Amour collections in 2005 Hurricane Rita. Before his illness he enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing. After his illness he enjoyed his weekly visits with his good friend Edmond Trahan. He was a hardworking man with a bigger heart than most people knew.

Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 23 years, Debby; daughter, Christy Lester and husband, Steve; granddaughter, Kelsey Jackson; brother, George Griffith and wife, Brenda; three sisters, Connie Trahan and husband, Robert, Janie Ulom, and Cheryl Guidry and husband, Mike; stepchildren, Stacey Badon and husband, Roho, Rhonda Morrison and husband, Todd, and Heath Jinks and wife, Brandy; step grandchildren, Destiny, Dustin, Austin, Dylan, Blake, Haleigh, Madison, Andre and Caige; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Betty Griffith and Marvelene and Norman Hutchins.

His funeral will be Tuesday, February 3, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Gandy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Monday, February 2 and will resume Tuesday at 8am until time of service at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery- South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

Pallbearers will be Heath Jinks, Edmond Trahan, Steve Lester, Travis Trahan, Todd Morrison and Robert Trahan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be George Griffith, Mike Guidry, Christy Lester and Kelsey Jackson.
