

Vivian was a native of Baker, Louisiana and had been a longtime resident of Sulphur. She was a homemaker and mother of nine children. She was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. Vivian enjoyed dancing, gardening, fishing, and sewing.
Survivors include her children, Johnny Whittington of Walker, Wanda Blanchard and husband, Mike of Plaquemine, Donald Whittington and wife, Dana of Sulphur, Susan Barbano and husband, John of Tehachapi, California, Troy Whittington and wife, Sherry of Moss Bluff, and Raymond Whittington and wife, Beverly of Ragley; her only surviving sibling, Maud "Belah" Shows of Darrow; son-in-law, Junior Meche of Sulphur; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cedric Whittington; children, Brenda Hinton, Carol Meche, and Robert Whittington; son-in-law, Johnny Hinton; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Whittington; brothers, Roy, Leo, Jessie, Napoleon, and Raymond Brashear; and sisters, Mary Crochet, Bessie Brown, Emma Daugherty, and Irene Hirtzler.
Her funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Andrews Kollannoor, MS will officiate. Burial will be in Farquhar Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Glenn Hinton, Chris Hinton, Larry Cain, Jason Cain, Austin Cain, Dillon Cain, and Brady Paul Chelette. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 8-10:30 a.m. with a rosary service at 10 a.m. The family is deeply indebted to her daughter, Wanda and son-in-law, Mike Blanchard for six years of loving care and sacrifice in caring for our mother in their home. Also, a special thank you to her home caregivers, Helen Henson, Margie Allen, Martha Martinez, especially long time family friend Hazel Daigle, and Comfort Care Hospice in Plaquemine.
