Willie Mae "MeMe" Richard, 75, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2018 surrounded by her family.

An Arkansas native, MeMe traveled widely until she met and married Lester and they settled in the Sulphur area. She was an excellent cook owning several cafes; she then became the head cook of the Marsh Club of Vinton. Upon retiring, her grandchildren chose MeMe as their personal chef calling in request for favorite dishes. She will be remembered for her strong will, excellent work ethic and a "heart bigger than she was".

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Lester Richard; son, Jimmie Rawson and wife, Angela of Ragley; daughter, Charlotte Trahan and husband, Lance of Carlyss; brothers, Donnie Wright of Sulphur, Roger Wright and David Wright of Livingston, TX; sisters, Flo Back of Albany, GA and Dot Tanner of St. Augustine, FL; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Randall Lee Rawson; parents, Bill and Annie Belle Wright; and eight siblings.

Funeral Services for Willie will be held at 10am, Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Hixson- Sulphur Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery of Carlyss. Visitation will be held in the funeral home 5-9pm Friday and resume Saturday, 9am until time of service. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.

I will always rember you , uncle lester letting us come stay with you , makeing color poatoe chips, takeing us easter egg hunting, makeing sure we had a place to sleep .will miss you , love you , I'll always have lots of memories .you're an angle , fly high.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were being with you..Aunt Willie you were indeed the best Aunt anyone could ask for..you gave me my first job at your Cafe on Hwy 90 i loved working there then as the older i got u still stood right by me ..We even worked at the Marsh Club together with Aunt Bell..and when i got in my car wreck who came to see me all the way in New Orleans you Aunt Willie you have always been there for me..i will always cherish the many memories.

Aunt Willie has always been a tiny lady but she had a Big heart made of gold. You will be missed but never forgotten. I remember when I was about 7 or 8 years old Aunt Willie used to put Perms in my hair for school pictures.

I also remember that when I was about 14 me and my siblings and Daddy lived with Aunt Willie and Uncle Lester for a little while. During that time they went on a trip and when they came back they had brought me an Elvis Presley medallion. Which is still in my jewelry box.
