Winfred Ray Abshire

Winfred Ray Abshire, 72, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born to his late parents, Columbus and Alda Abshire on June 24, 1951 in Hayes, Louisiana. He proudly served in the United States Army and the Louisiana National Guard. Ray loved listening to Cajun Music and oldies on Sundays, and spending time outdoors working. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 37 years, Pam Abshire; daughter, Kasey Harper and Grandson, Brayden Harper, all of Sulphur, Louisiana; son, Mathew Abshire of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; brothers, Will Abshire (JoeAnn) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lary Abshire of Pearl River, Louisiana, Norman Abshire (Debbie) of Vidor, Texas, and Francis Abshire (LaVonda) of Sulphur, Louisiana; brother-in-law and numerous sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ray is preceded in death by his son, Troy Abshire; his parents; along with two sisters, Bernice "Tuddy" Soileau and Ramona Hoffpauir.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
