Lynn Karwejna, 73, passed away July 19, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. Lynn had lived with chronic pain for many years and her little heart was tired. She was born on May 23, 1938 to James Cole and Margaret (Dalley) in Butte, Montana. Lynn didn't start life alone that day, however. She had her identical twin Rosalie with her. This was the beginning of what would be 73 years of the "twins together."
Lynn Karwejna, my twin sister of 73 years, was one of the most wonderful people I have known and loved in my life. She wasn’t of very much stature, but she was significantly huge to me. She was my sister, friend, caregiver, confidant and companion in so many ways. Yes, we shared a special bond since birth. I could write a book. We didn’t always see things the same, however, her ability to listen, mediate, and share opinions, quickly resolved any differences we had. She will always remain a part of me in my heart and soul. I am thankful for sharing her life, and know we will be together again in God’s good grace. What a blessing you have been to me, and to all who have known your kindness. God Bless, your sis, Lea.
Lynn married Stanley (Pete) Karwejna (5-22-57) in Ephrata, Washington. Born to Lynn were 3 children, Michael Anthony 12-7-55, Theresa Marie 1-14-56 and Patricia Louise 3-30-61. Pete moved the family back to Philly once the Air Force allowed. In 1971, Lynn relocated back to the west coast with the children, to be close to her family. A job at K-Mart paid for our bills. She made many friends there that to this day remains close. Lynn's retirement came in 1986 due to vision loss though she stayed in touch with everyone there. Lynn disliked being at home, so she volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital. She did that every week for 13 years. Her ability to relate to people made her a friend to many. She will be remembered as someone who always took the time to listen and talk. Her grandchildren Bailey Lynn and Michael Joel will miss her every day. Bailey Lynn states that her "pocket Nana" will always be somewhere over the rainbow and looking down on us. Michael Joel was her gentle giant. She loved his hugs and he held her hand. To Sara "Howday Pardner" To my special mom that I will miss so much, you are free of pain at last. I have lost my best friend, my mother, my children's nana. My life has only been enrched by you in it. Your strength empowers me in my life, and each day I will try to do something to better myself for you. Bryan loved you so much and says "Icecream."
Lynn is survived by her children Michael A. Karwejna, Theresa Gilbert, Patty Karwejna. Grandchildren Bailey Brennan, Michael Throneberry, Sarah Karwejna, Tyler Throneberry (deceased). Sisters Rosalie McMurtry, Ladonna House, Paulette Wilcher (deceased) and brother Rick McLain (deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements under the direction of Powers Funeral Home, Sumner, WA.
