Mark, I miss you terrible! I'll miss your stories, your easy-going attitude, your diligence and godliness. Work isn't the same without you! In Him there is always hope. I'll see you again some day soon.

i will  miss you dad. i really wish that you were here. but i wrote a song for you  that i'm performing at both services. a song that i wrote about you. i know that mom wanted me to speak but i thought that maybe for me a song i wrote will be better. anyway you would of been proud i mean almost all the family was at the service on frday. i guess i miss you. and i never appercite you as much. even though we drifted and still whould of said this to you but i didn't. and that was i love you dad. and i'm going to miss you. even though i know your in a better place but still i'm going to miss you; and i know that you will be proud of me. also everynight at 12:15am i sometimes think that i'm going to hear your car. like you pulling in from work. or khol barking. but i don't its all in my head. anyway i know your in a better place. but i hope, your proud even though i was the last person that you saw before u died. i never had a good reliton ship with you. and i know you'll never see me get married. but i know i'll find the right guy. and i know i'm a tough girl trying to be strong but i'm crying myself to sleep. but anyway i love you dad and i'm going to miss you.

Rest in peace, Mark.  You have a lovely family and a great dog!  Sharing him with us has brought much joy to our lives--we adore our little canines.  It was fun getting together  with you, Lanita, Danielle, and Tiffany, too.  Thank you.  You will be remembered.  You are gone much too soon, and it saddens us all and reminds us that each and every day is a gift to be treasured.  Life is truly very fragile. My brother Mark. Mom used to tell Johnny to do a chore and he would tell me to do it and then I made you do it. And you usually did! What a great younger brother. I could count on you being here if you said you would be (although always 30 minutes late) I could count on help with my computer (although usually done so quickly I could never learn) I could count on you for a lively political debate (you always let me win) and I could count on you to be dressed worse than me. The last time I saw you you were in shorts and combat boots. That is how I will always remember my brother Mark a truly terrible dresser and the most honest and trustworthy man I knew.

Mark was my son-in-law.  He was a good man and always seemed to roll with the punches.  He worked hard to take care of his family and when difficult decisions were thrown at him, he accepted that as a challenge.  

I will always remember when he shared his testimony with him.   He was in the airforce stationed in the mid-west and feeling very bored.  He found a Gideon Bible and started to read it and for the first time understood that God loved him.  He also found a tract in the Bible that explained  how he could have a relationship with Jesus.  Mark prayed that day to invite Jesus into his heart.  He soon got acquainted with a couple from the Navigators who helped him grow in his Christian life.  

I am so thankful for Mark and the strength of characted he exhibited.  I know he is up there with the Lord and that someday I will see him again.

My thoughts and daily prayers are with you during this time.  I knowthat right now things seem really bleak but I do know (from personal experience) that life does go on and Jesus really does stay there with those everlasting arms supporting you whenever you need Him the most. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls during this time of loss.  We pray there are many around you to encourage and assist you. We know Jesus’ death and resurrection have taken away much of the sting of death, but we know there is still hurt and loss during such times.  We can grieve without despairing, since we do have such a wonderful hope in Jesus.  May you find peace and comfort in Jesus at this time.  Stay strong in Jesus, but do grieve as you need too.  Remember Jesus wept at the news of Lazarus’ death.  He loved Lazarus and mark so much; as we know you do Mark.

Mark was a fun loving guy, yet a man of faith.  Mark was a good balance in my life when we were together.   I recall a ski trip to Korea with Mark and Bill Wargula.  Mark was dressed in a large white knee length parka with a light colored fur trimming.  Every time he would fall the snow would cling to the fur lining and the coat and you could see very little of his face.  We and others on the slopes would all laugh because he reminded us of the legendary Abominable Snowman or a living snowball.  I do not expect his many falls on the slope were because he really could not stay upright, but suspect his falls were because he just liked making everyone laugh.  I indeed laughed at the sight and often at other times when with Mark.  Despite his enjoying life and causing others to laugh, there was a serious side of Mark.  He loved Jesus, his family and others.  He asked good questions in Bible study.  He helped others grow in their faith.  I know Mark is enjoying seeing Jesus face and face and expect he is probably causing a few laughs of Jesus and others there with them!

We were so shock to hear of Mark's passing,I always love Mark and how he shared his faith and knowledge of the Bib\le. Our prayers and love go out to his family. Gary and Kathy DeLappe

I can't begin to tell you, Lanita, how saddened I was to hear of Mark's
passing. Nancy joins me in expressing our deepest sympathies to you,
the girls, and your extended family. Mark was a true friend and I will
miss him dearly.

I still remember the first time I met Mark back in 1977 at Mt. Home
AFB, Idaho. We were both a couple of young bucks who thought we had
the world by the tail, but something happened in both of our lives
that turned our attention to Christ.

In 1978, the Air Force saw fit to give both of us orders to a faraway
island in the Pacific called Okinawa. It was on that tiny rock in the
middle of nowhere that our friendship with each other and relationship
with Christ was nurtured. God was at work in the lives of people in a
special way during that time, and Mark and I had the privilege of
seeing many airmen place their trust in Christ. Two people, in
particular, that Mark poured his life into were a couple of young
airmen named Glen and Bob, making an eternal impact in their lives.

When Mark & I got out of the Air Force in the early 80's, I visited
him in Portland. I'll never forget the trip we took together in his(?) old, beat-up station wagon to visit some friends at Mt. Home AFB. We
were driving in the thick of darkness on a lonely mountain pass when
all of a sudden our headlights went out. Mark's quick thinking action
probably kept us from going over a cliff that night. He stuck his head
out the window (I was driving) and proceeded to guide me slowly to a
stop on the side of the road. Once we calmed down we burst out
laughing, fixed the problem (sort of) and continued on our merry way
with only our high beams. It was no big deal to Mark, and we had a lot of
fun on that trip.

Over the years we continued to stay in touch thru phone calls
and short visits, including two long conversations over the phone this
past year. On one of the calls, Mark wanted me know that he might be
losing his job. But, in typical Mark fashion, he went on to express
how he wasn't worried about it because he was confident that God would
provide. From my point of view, that pretty much sums up Mark's
life......he was a man deeply grateful for and confident in God's
goodness. Now Mark's faith has become sight, and that "goodness" that
he had trusted in all his life is not just a blessed hope anymore, it's become a blessed reality.

I will miss him!

Mark will be missed.  His can-do attitude and big smile is something we will never forget. We are praying for you Lanita, Tiffany and Danielle.

Fun Times in a green home off 47th in PDX, as I often pass and remember.
News paper rubber bands on the hand rail.
 Mark "uncle" lived in our home for a short time as the year ended.
Perhaps the day he wore pastel blue? As my grandfather and I "decorated' a ford pinto with toiletry and barrowed lipstick as our faces reflected in chrome.

I was saddened to hear of Mark's passing.  Far too young a man.  I was informed through a former co-worker out at McChord AFB.  Although I've had no formal contact with Mark since his retirement from the USAF in 2001, I remember him to have been an excellent Electro-Environmental Technician on the C-141B Starlifter.  I offer my condolences.  RIP.
