Adele grew up on the family farm/summer resort in Monticello with her siblings Hyman and Shirley. Her early education took place at a one-room schoolhouse where one of her classmates was Max Yasgur of Woodstock fame. In her early adult life, she worked at Random House as the personal assistant to Bennett Cerf. She met her future husband, Charles Frankel, at a dance in New York City. They married in 1948 and settled in Clearview, Queens. In 1955 they bought a house in Levittown, NY where they raised their children, Robert and Sundarii (formerly Shari). Adele and Charlie loved to travel, and they saw the world together. In 1979 Adele and Charlie were among the very first residents to move into Sun City West, AZ. After Charlie’s death in 2017, Adele spent her final years living at Marybela’s Loyal Care in Surprise, AZ. The family wishes to thank Mariana Stefan and the staff at Marybela’s for the excellent care Adele and Charlie received during their time there.
Adele Frankel is survived by her sister Shirley Shames of Tom’s River, NJ; her son Robert Frankel of Easton, PA; her daughter Sundarii of Stony Brook, NY; her grandson Jason Frankel and granddaughter Alyssa Frankel; and her nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Her husband, Charles Frankel, her parents, Samuel and Sarah, and her brother Hyman preceded Adele in death.
Adele Frankel has requested that there be no funeral service. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be sent to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix, AZ.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.
