DOROTHY MAE MERRILL, “DOTTIE”, 93, died Jan 10th, at her home in Surprise, AZ. The world lost a sweet soul….Born Dorothy Davis, in Dayton, Ohio, she married Al Merrill; they were a devoted couple for over 70 years .They built their own home in Kettering, Ohio, and were renowned for the flowers they loved to grow. Al brought the perfect roses in to her with a kiss. She was a loving and encouraging Mom. The younger son, Jim, Annapolis grad, died at 26 in a Navy air accident – the tragedy of her life. Son Bob Merrill and wife Kim live in Ohio, also grandsons Brian Merrill and wife Molly, Andrew Merrill and wife Alyssa. Daughter, Dodie Ballantine and husband Jack live in Surprise. Grandsons Dan Rufner and wife Sara live in Alaska and Kevin Rufner and wife Lorraine live in Denver. There are nine greatgrandchildren. We will all miss her loving heart.
