Ferrah Dean Parmelee, along with her twin sister, Imah Jean, were born on February 24, 1933 in a small community located in the panhandle of Oklahoma, near Turpin, to Chester and Mabel Parmelee. She was the youngest of four siblings- Lyman, Mignone, Twyla and Imah Jean. She grew up on a farm and attended Eureka high school in Baker, Oklahoma where she met and married, Carlos Stuck on June 24th, 1951. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Kent and Sharon Stuck, JoLe and Rick Hoover and Ladawna and Shane Walker. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Carlos and Ferrah began raising their family in Liberal, Kansas, where they lived until 1963 when they relocated to Denver, Colorado. Soon after, Ferrah took a position at Capitol Federal Savings where she later became a real estate appraiser. She was employed there for about 20 years until she retired around 1984. She then became active in Women’s Aglow for about ten years where during the latter part of her tenure she served as president of the Northern Colorado chapter.
In 1997 Carlos retired at 65, and they moved to Surprise, Arizona. There, they found a church home and made many close and lasting friendships. They loved playing golf, sharing meals, playing cards and doing things together. In the summer they would pack up and visit the kids in Colorado and Montana, saving the warmer Texas for the holidays. Carlos passed from cancer in 2012. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the year before. Ferrah moved to Dallas, Texas in 2013 where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, JoLe and Rick Hoover. Alzheimer’s was already beginning to have its affects. Ferrah would still visit Kent and Ladawna during the warmer months and return to Dallas in the fall and winter.
She broke her hip in 2018. Over time, she was able to recover, but was unable to travel again after that. She continued to live with her daughter until 2019 when she was moved to a small group home for more specialized care. She passed there on March 25th, 2020, surrounded by children that she loved and who loved her so dearly.
Ferrah loved giving to the Lord and others. She centered Her love and faith in Christ, rejoicing in all things, while serving and blessing so many. Her quiet spirt, strong faith and example were a model for others to follow. All who knew Ferrah, loved her, and she will be greatly missed.
