

Galen “Fritz” Setzkorn, 77 passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his home in Sun City, AZ. He was born October 11, 1942 in Dodge City, Kansas. Fritz received a Bachelor degree from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN and went on to the University of Dayton to receive a Master’s degree. In his field of insurance, he earned a CPCU.
He married Judy Henlock in 1969 and they just celebrated 50 years of marriage. Fritz worked for the Catholic Church in Dayton, Ohio as the Religious Education Director. He was then hired as the Volunteer Director of St. Mary’s Hospital in Dayton and subsequently became the Safety Director. His background in safety led him to the insurance field where he was a Loss Control Specialist for many years.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Glendale, AZ from the beginnings of the parish where he actively participated in various ministries. He was a member of the Building Committee for the first permanent church building. Over the years, he also was an usher, lector, money counter and Eucharistic Minister to nursing homes and Arrowhead Hospital.
While living in Sun City, Fritz became actively involved with the Artistic Stained Glass Club and the Computer Club.
Fritz leaves behind his loving wife, Judy of Sun City; three children, David (Tami) of Peoria, AZ, Joe of Green Bay, WI and Bill (Carrie) of Overland Park, KS. Grandchildren include Ally, Liz, Matt, Emma and Alex all of Peoria, AZ. Kansas Grandchildren include Jordan (Dakota) Caldwell, Haylee, Logan, and Zach of Overland Park, KS and Great Grandchild Willow Grace Caldwell. He is also survived by two brothers, Bill Feuerborn of Lee’s Summit, MO and Jim Feuerborn of Raytown, MO, along with many nieces and nephews. Fritz is preceded in death by Orland, Elnora, Elmer, Steve, Joan Marie and Grandma and Grandpa Herenomus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 6180 W. Utopia, Glendale, AZ. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
