Uncle Shorty was a wonderful smile with a humble and gracious man behind it.  I lived with Aunt Betty and Uncle Shorty for about a year one time and he was so good to me.  I remember every night at dinner that he asked about us and never talked about himself.  He was so even tempered and kind.  He loved his family and the Lord.
