Jo Mary Skidmore

Born Jo Mary Conner in Tuscumbia, Alabama on November 15, 1919; as an infant the family moved to Indianola, Mississippi where she completed her school years. Upon graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS. She taught school until WWII started and then worked for the US Army Air Force in Greenville, MS where she met her husband Ernest Skidmore. They were married in 1944. After the war she taught school in Elkins, WV while Ernest completed his college degree. The family moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1964 where she and her husband worked for the school district. They retired to Sun City, AZ in 2001. Jo Mary’s survivors include her husband of Sun City and three sons and their families: Dr. Richard and his wife Bonnie of Gainesville, FL; Ronald and his wife Nelda of Carlton, OR; Dr. Ernest and his wife Vicki of Asheville, NC. Three grandchildren: Kylee who attends Colorado University, Alec who is a senior in High School, and Pierce who is also a senior in High School. Jo was a person who always saw the good in people and loved everybody she knew. Her being missed is a gross understatement of the feelings, of her family, for their loss. She requested that anyone who desires to send a memorial, send it to The Lakeview United Methodist Church Library fund 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd. Sun City, AZ 85351.
