It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joanne Mae Plate, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She peacefully departed this world on June 26, 2024, surrounded by her family. Joanne is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Alfred Anthony Plate Sr.; her loving children, Kathleen Joanne Hansen (Aren) and Alfred Anthony Plate Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Paige, Savannah, and Abigail. She is also survived by her sisters Elaine Deeks, Peggy Henriques (Manny), Karen Taylor, and her brother Gary Weiss (Roxanne), her little sister Gail, along with numerous relatives and friends.
Her family, and her role as a mother and grandmother, was the most important thing to Joanne. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what Joanne enjoyed most of all. Her life had many obstacles and struggles, yet through it all, her love and caring for her family remained her focus, and in so many, many ways, she was able to show that love to them. This perseverance through adversity is a powerful lesson, and we believe it is her legacy. Love and care for your family. Let them know in all the ways you can show them that you love them.
Joanne dedicated 21 years to the Peoria Unified School District, where she served as an Admin Secretary and was the go-to person for many. Her invaluable contributions played a significant role in the success of the district. She met some of her closest friends, and they became a significant part of her life.
Throughout her life, Joanne touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love will forever be remembered.
