John M. Anastasio of Sun City West, AZ, was born 1929 in New Haven, CT. He lived 82 years and entered into eternal rest at home on August 29, 2011. John lettered in baseball, basketball, and football; was inducted into the West Haven High Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006; and played quarterback at East Texas State. In 1969, John moved his family to Phoenix where he worked 27 years for F&B Manufacturing. In active retirement, John loved golf, bocce, and his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lila; brother, Michael (Helen); 3 children, Michael (Susan), Nancy Becker, and Jay, all of the Valley; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Brian (Kelly), and Colin Becker; and K.C., Alex, and Victoria Anastasio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Visitation: Friday 4-7 pm at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City. Memorial mass: Tuesday, Sept. 6, 10 am, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West.
