

John I. Conley, Jr., 80, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on December 1, 2014 at Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale, AZ. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, at Sunland Mortuary-Lakeside Chapel, 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351. Funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday at 11 a.m. at Sunland Mortuary. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
John was born on May 7, 1934 in Chattanooga, TN to John and Lenora (Hamilton) Conley. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 195 and served in Korea, Philippines and Vietnam. He retired as a master sergeant after 23 years. He married Inez M. (Perotti) Conley on February 7, 1954 in Newburgh, NY at the Oak Street Baptist Church. During his military career, he lived in New York, Arizona, Sussex England, Florida, and Texas. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, John worked at Honeywell in AZ for 15 years, retiring as a technical writer. John’s passions included fishing, traveling, and coin collecting and in later years, computers.
John will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Inez Conley; daughter, Karen Ann Melendez; son, John K. Conley; six grandchildren, Michael, Carly, and Andrew Melendez, Kelsey Maples, and Fiona and Bailey Conley; sister, Shirley Hollingsworth and brother, Paul (Pia) Conley; four great grandchildren, Aiden and Ava Lynn Conley, Harlo Maples, and Brayden Melendez. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lenora Conley and four siblings, Carol, Linda, Wayne, and Marie.
