OBITUARY

June C. MacDougall

2 August, 1926 – 9 June, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center

June C. MacDougall, age 97, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

June was born August 2, 1926 to Frank and Anna Marshall, in Chicago, Illinois. As a child her mother enrolled June in accordion and dance classes because she was so shy. Obviously, it worked! In her dance class she became close friends with Jane Withers the actress.

She attended Chicago's Teachers College until she and her parents moved to California in 1947 where she completed her education to become an elementary school teacher.

June met her wonderful husband, Burt Macdougall, on a blind date. They married on June 19th, 1964 while Burt was finishing his Master's Degree in education. June and Burt had no children of their own, yet every Friday evening they had Burt's high school economics students over to their home for coffee and dessert. June and Burt enjoyed the teenagers immensely. She still received cards and letters from Burt's students.

After Burt's retirement, June and Burt moved to Arizona in 1989. They joined fountain of Life Lutheran Church in 1990. Burt and June were very involved serving as greeters and ushers. June also served as Librarian, which she really enjoyed. She started a book review group called "The Bookworms". June was secretary of the Church Council and served on the stewardship Board and Altar Guild.

She served as a volunteer at Boswell Hospital in the emergency waiting room. June also enjoyed the fellowship of both Scandinavian and Scott's clubs.

She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. All whom she loved dearly. Since her family was scattered across the country, her church became her local family. She loved her church family and spoke of many of you often. She was fun and always had a smile no matter the circumstances. She would frequently say "count your blessings". She was loved by everyone who knew her and returned that love. June exuded the joy of the Lord. She will be missed but we know she is rejoicing with her heavenly Father.

June's final resting place is located at Sunland Memorial park 15826 Del Webb Blvd Sun City, Arizona 85351
