Leona Mae Rouvalis, age 98, of Sun City West, Arizona passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024. Leona was born on February 28, 1926 in Humboldt, Kansas to her parents Henry and Phebie Triemer. She was the only child to her parents.
Leona graduated from Chanute Jr. College in Chanute, Kansas and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University in EMporia, Kansas. She taught school in Parsons, Wichita and Topeka, Kansas as well as Denver, Colorado.
She and her first husband, Albert L. Gillette, moved near Sula, Montana and they were engaged in land subdivision and home building. They were married 35 years. Albert passed away in 1984 and Leona moved to Sun City West that year.
George M. Rouvalis and Leona were married in 1985 and were married for 21 years before George passed on June 10, 2006. They enjoyed golf, bowling, music, volunteering and traveling.
Leona was active in her community being part of many clubs, such as the New England Club, Musicians Club and the Johnson Mixers Bowling League.
