Leora Grace Coen, 100, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on July 26, 2021. Leora was born in St Maries, Idaho. This is where she learned many of life’s valuable lessons of hard work and dedication to family and friends.
At 16, she married the love of her life, George Frank Coen in Spokane, WA where they worked his parents’ farm.
Leora and George had a wonderful life together raising their three daughters. She was a Rosie the Riveter and worked as a welder, welding planes during World War II. After the war, George and Leora moved to Arizona 1961. She had her own lunch truck and would always make George’s lunch, and brought it to his work every day.
In 1983 they moved back to Washington for George's health. After George’s passing, Leora moved back to Arizona to be closer to family.
Leora is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, George Coen; her daughters, Georgia Hasting and Cathy Myers.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Jon) Maes, eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Leora will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family. She loved watching the grandkids play softball, baseball, soccer or just lending a listening ear and provided sound advice.
