Loreto (Al) Cervoni passed away December 23, 2020 in Sun City, Arizona at age 92. Al was born in Boville, Italy on January 1, 1928. He was the first of 9 children, born to John and Natalina Cervoni. The family moved to Batavia, NY three years after his birth.
Al joined the US Army at age 18, after a short stent in the Merchant Marines. In the Army, he was stationed in Germany. After the Army, Al went to Airlines School and spent 30 years as a Reservation Agent.
Al met the love of his life, Arlene, in Minneapolis while they both were working for Northwest Airlines. They fell in love, and married in 1955. Continuing their work with Northwest Airlines, they moved to Oahu, HI in 1962.
In Hawaii, Al and his bride became avid Rockhounds, a passion they continued in retirement when they moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1984. Al was a member and eventual President of the Rockhound Club in Sun City. He also was a member of the Fairway & Sun Dial Lapidary Clubs, also in Sun City. Through his love of lapidary work, he created many unique pieces that he gave as gifts. Al was an usher for many years at St. Joachim and St. Anne Parish of Sun City.
Al lost his beautiful Arlene in 2007. He is also preceded in death by four of his siblings: John, Rose, Nicolina and Christine.
Al is survived by his brother Vincent and sisters: Yolanda, Dorothy and Ann Marie; 11 nieces and 9 nephews; companion Edie (Edith) of 10 years, and many great Rockhound friends. Although Al and Arlene never had children of their own, he had special relationships with his nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Sunland Memorial Park & Mortuary. Services are being planned for a future date.
