Loretta Starr Mitchell, 82, died on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at her home in Sun City, Arizona. She was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and graduated at the head of the Kittanning High School Class of 1952.
She married Irvin S. Mitchell in 1953 and later had sons, Irvin and Mark. Loretta remained a resident of Kittanning until 1966 when she moved to northern Virginia while her husband attended Virginia Theological Seminary.
The Mitchell family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1969 and later to Fort Worth, Arlington and Gainesville in Texas as the now Rev. Dr. Irvin S. Mitchell served various parishes. A return to Arizona came in 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013.
She is survived by sons, Irvin R. Mitchell, Mark Alan Mitchell and his wife Kathy of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brother Robert J. Starr of St. Charles, Missouri, and grandson, Bryson G. Mitchell of New York City.
There will be a committal service, December 21 at 10:45 a.m. at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church in Sun City following the Wednesday 10:00 a.m. Mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Nadaburg Unified School District No. 81, 32919 Center St., Wittmann, AZ 85361 or to the Hospice of the Valley.
