Mary Ann Evorick was born in Chicago, Il on 5/23/39 to Joseph and Margaret. She met Norman Thomas when she was a child as they grew up across the street from each other. As we’ve been told, they were inseparable at an early age and married when they were 19 years old, in 1958. This marriage produced four children in rapid succession; Keith, Kathleen, Craig and Jade. Her daughter in-law and son-in-law included Barbara Thomas and Don Floyd.
As a young mother of four small children, Mary Ann went back to work shortly after the birth of her last child and worked continually until she retired at 65 years old. Mary Ann and Norm moved to Arizona in 1987 where they enjoyed fun in the sun and two great vacations; Hawaii and an Alaskan cruise. Their children produced grandchildren Natalie, Melissa and Tanner. From their grandchildren, great grandchildren were born: Layla, Mason, Ivy, and Quinn. She was lovingly called “GGma” by her great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was a giving individual and enjoyed attending Catholic church and cooking her children’s favorite meals. These meals included lasagna, turkey at Thanksgiving, chicken paprikas with homemade noodles, carrot cake, Ruskey’s/kolaches, and other Slovak pastries.
Mary Ann went to her eternal home on January 28, 2025.
Mary Ann and Norm passed away mere days apart; they never wanted to be apart. We can just hear Mary Ann saying, “Come on Thomas; let’s go” …. and he did”; nine days after her passing. They will both be missed dearly.
And he said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise”. Luke 23:43
