Merrium Stevens (Missy) P. Mielke
Born: July 15, 1921
Belleville, Kansas
Left this life: May 9, 2019
Phoenix, Arizona
Missy is survived by: A loving family of 2 daughters, 2 son-in-laws, 3 grandsons, 2 grand-daughters, 2 grandson-in-laws, 2 great grandsons, 3 great great granddaughters, a future grand-daughter in-law, 2 great grand dogs, and two very special friends.
Missy will be joining the love of these others, on her next journey beyond this life: 1 daughter, 1 great grandson, her husbands and many other loving family members and friends.
Her Celebration of Life will be on Mother’s Day in tribute to the love and encouragement she always gave to her family.
Our mom, grandma and dear friend will be remembered for the many things that she enjoyed. She loved her Diamondbacks and watched them loyally since the franchise started. Each evening at 7 PM was reserved for her two favorite shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She always kept up on current events and helped keep the rest of the family informed. She was an avid reader before Macular Degeneration made it too difficult. Mexican Train Dominoes, Bingo, and Solitaire also gave her many hours of enjoyment. She loved music and singing on a whim. In fact, she sang to her grandsons just days before leaving us!
She delighted in shopping for just the right thing and all the better if it was a good deal. The Bi-Annual Tempe Festival of the Arts holds many years of fun memories and good times with family and close friends!
When asked for some words that describe her, there are many that come to mind; Loving, Caring, Understanding, Compassionate, Classy, Full of Grace, Strong, Tough, Funny, Clever, Informed. She had the MOST incredible will to live and to live life on her terms. She liked her independence and with that a quality of life. Her 97+ years of a life well lived finally wore out her fragile aging body, but she left with her full mind intact. And for that we are truly grateful.
If you are unable to be with us at her celebration, please pause to remember her when you read this. Family and close friends were the most important thing to her. Take time to hold your loved ones tight and smile when you think of Merrium! She told us many times not to shed tears when she left us, but to Celebrate Her Life with the Wonderful Memories we have shared with her!
Thank you our dear mom, grandma and wonderful friend. You have inspired us in more ways than you can possibly imagine. We have been blessed to have you in our lives. You will be missed terribly by all of us. But each of us takes a part of you with us and the memories of you will Never be forgotten! You are forever in our hearts, and the hearts of generations to come.
WE CELEBRATE YOU!!!
