

Robert Guthrie Glendon, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from complications of Lewy-Body dementia. He was born October 15, 1921 in Akron, Ohio to William Bernard Glendon and Martha Anna Guthrie Glendon. He was a graduate of Garfield High School, attended Ohio State University ASTP and IBM school in Endicott, NY. He belonged to the National Machine Accountants Assc., the Goodyear Aerospace Corp. Foreman’s Club and the Lockheed Martin Pioneer Club. Bob was a WWII US Army veteran who served in the Pacific Ryukus Group and combat in the battle of Okinawa where he was flown to Seoul, Korea for hospitalization of one year. After being honorably discharged, he was in the Army Reserves for eight years. He was employed by Babcock and Wilcox, and Goodyear Aerospace in Akron where he was transferred to Litchfield Park, AZ to set up and manage the computer division and also managed payroll for 36 years before retiring. He enjoyed RVing and family. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Joan Firth (Elgin) Glendon; daughter, Colleen Ann Glendon Ellenburg (Michael); granddaughters Michelle Ann Ellenburg Smith (US Marine Capt. Nathaniel), Christine Ann Ellenburg Davis (Jeffrey), great granddaughters Elizabeth Ann and Kaitlyn Ann Davis; sister, Helen Maxine Glendon Peternell (Walter). He is predeceased by brother Raymond Glendon (Marie) and sister Mildred Elizabeth Glendon Armstrong (Harold). Graveside service will be 11AM Saturday, May 21, Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351 with military honors.
