Sanford Charles Wax, one of 3 children born to Charles S. and Elaine Vivian Wax on June 6th, 1937. Sanford was the middle child with an older and younger sister, Shirley and Charlene. On January 20th, 2021 he joined his family and a multitude of friends as he walked into Heaven.
Sanford passed away in his home in Peoria with his wife by his side. Sanford is survived by his wife Esther, his 3 children: Candice, Tony, and Aaron; his 7 grandchildren: Daniel, Aric, Lainie, Corey, Savannah, Elaine and Andrew; and his 3 great grandchildren: Tyler, Sydney and Evan. Sanford loved his family dearly. He was a supportive, encouraging, and guiding husband, father and grandfather.
Born in West Palm Beach Florida, Sanford loved the ocean and being around the water. Throughout his growing years, Sanford's family lived in many different cities and states. He spent multiple summers with his Aunts and Uncles in the Midwest, especially enjoying his time on the family farms. After High School, Sanford joined the Air Force where he was stationed at the Pentagon during his enlistment. He married shortly after enlistment and had his daughter Candice in 1958 and son Tony in 1962. Sanford moved to Phoenix in the 1960's with his children Candice and Tony. He had two amazing careers in the valley. His first was as an award winning hair stylist. His second was as a successful small business owner in the pool industry. In the mid 1970's, he met Esther while working as a DJ at John's Green Gables. They were married in 1978.
Their son Aaron was born in 1984.
As an adult, Sanford lived his life to the fullest without fear. He enjoyed sailing, flying, scuba diving, target shooting, fishing, bowling, dancing, gardening, and being around his loved ones. As an extreme extrovert, Sanford never met a stranger and tried to make every person he met his friend.
Sanford was a strong Christian man. As a member of North Phoenix Baptist Church for over 40 years, he served faithfully as deacon, bible study teacher, children's ministry teacher, and sang in the choir. Sanford was a member of the El Zaribah Shrine and was their acting Chaplin for many years.
Sanford will have a memorial celebration of life in the chapel of North Phoenix Baptist Church on February 20th, 2021 at 10am. The service will also be live streamed through the church's website. He will be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
