Ben was born on July 28, 1955, in Biddeford, Maine. His family, shortly after, moved across the country to Buena Park, CA.
Ben had a deep passion for speed, adventure, and anything that brought a sense of excitement. In the early-mid 1970s, he raced flat track motorcycles on a national stage, reflecting his fearless spirit and love for adrenaline. Whether on a motorcycle, behind the wheel of a car, on the slopes or on water, Ben loved going fast and embracing the thrill of the moment.
In his younger years, Ben cherished snow skiing and even had the opportunity to ski in Banff Canada—an experience he loved to share. His adventurous spirit carried throughout his life in many forms. In the early 1980s, Ben worked as a professional bodyguard for local celebrities in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.
In the early 90’s, he and his family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he purchased a home and worked as an automotive mechanic. Over the next 25 years he and his wife transformed the home into one of the most beautiful home in the neighborhood—complete with a backyard that became the heart of countless family gatherings and neighborhood celebrations, creating a lifetime of great memories.
Ben also enjoyed time on the open road and on the water. Alongside his wife, shortly after moving to Flagstaff, he purchased a boat and eventually two jet skis, beginning a lifelong tradition of trips to Lake Powell. Over the years, his family made hundreds of visits with friends, creating unforgettable memories together. He also owned a Harley-Davidson for many years, enjoying road trips across the western United States with his wife and fellow riders.
In early 2000’s, Ben founded Red Lion Motorsports, where he dedicated himself to restoring classic and muscle cars. His passion for automotive craftsmanship remained a central part of his life. Among his many projects, he proudly restored a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 4-door wagon, creating lasting memories as he took his family to car rallies and shows across the western United States.
In 2016, Ben and his wife moved to Peoria, Arizona, where they built a beautiful home with a stunning backyard and a large RV garage—fulfilling his dream of having a spacious shop to work on cars.
He loved life’s simple joys just as much—especially celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks (earning him the nickname “Pyro”), enjoying Maine lobster, indulging in his wife’s homemade chocolate chip cookies, and making everyone laugh with his signature dad jokes and contagious sense of humor.
Ben was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. Whether it was home improvement projects or lending a hand in times of need, he gave his time freely and without hesitation. He had a special way of making people feel valued and supported. He always showed up not only for others but for his family—his wife, son, and daughter—and was a proud and loving grandfather to his two grandchildren.
Ben never met a stranger. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went, and his recognizable handlebar mustache and contagious personality made him a familiar and beloved face in every community he was part of.
He lived a life defined by loyalty, selflessness, integrity, humor, generosity, faithfulness, and a tireless work ethic. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who always showed up for others.
In October of 2024, Ben was diagnosed with ALS. Throughout his journey, he faced each day with strength, courage, and grace. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and in the presence of Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife, his son, his daughter, and his two grandchildren, all of whom he adored deeply. He was a constant presence in their lives—supportive, engaged, and endlessly proud.
Ben’s legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and selflessness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
