Dieter was born April 15, 1933, at home in Birkenhain, Germany to Richard and Irmgard. Dieter is survived by his son, Scott (Karen), stepson’s Mark, Dave and John, grandchildren Zachary, Joshua, Kailey and Ajay, nephew Eric (Kellee) and siblings Wolfgang (Elke), Ruth (Harry), Horst (Ina) and Waldtraut.
Dieter was a child during war times in Germany, he flew to the U.S. (Evanston, IL) when he was twenty-four with his sister Ruth. He worked Managing Data Centers at First Chicago Bank in downtown Chicago. After retiring, he worked part time for Baird and Warner and part time for Lufthansa Airlines.
Dieter met Marilyn in his fifty’s, they fell in love and had a wonderful marriage of 35 years. Dieter was known for his Libertyville High School staff parties and wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that he lovingly cooked for friends and family.
Dieter and Marilyn split their time between Grayslake, IL and Surprise, AZ in their later years. In his seventy’s his children talked him into finally taking golf lessons so that he and Marilyn could golf together. He was surprised that he did like golf. Dieter most evenings enjoyed a beer or two and shared laughter with his dear friends at the club house in Arizona Traditions.
Dieter’s parents, Richard and Irmgard and his wife Marilyn preceded him in passing. He will leave a deep void and we will all miss his big warm smile.
