Dorothy Walrath Raymer

Dorothy Walrath grew up on a 4-acre “ranch” in Sacramento, CA and spent her high school years at Grant Union H.S. near McClellan Field during World War II. The family moved to Rolla, MO, in 1946 where her parents George and Emma Warlath opened a restaurant. They opend the Cal-mo Café near the Missouri School of Mines. After two years of college, Dorothy taught fourth grade in Waynesville, MO from 1948-1949. In March of 1949 she got married to Gordon Raymer, a student at MSM. He claims that she was the answer to his prayers, and she says that he was the cutest and nicest boy in college. After graduation, Gordon rejoined the U.S. Navy as a multi-engine pilot. The couple lived in many places, including a tour in Taiwan. Dorothy loved her wonderful family, and liked gardening, computers, cooking and sewing. She is preceded in passing by her husband Gordon Raymer, her sister Lillie Montgomery and one brother George “Rusy” Walrath. She is survived by five sons: John (Linda), Michael (Kathie), Daniel (Ester), Thomas (Karyn) and David (Annett); nine grandchildren: Matthew (Evalena), Victoria (Andrew Hansen), Samuel, Rachel, Chloe, Richard, Timothy, Justin and Emma; two great-grandchildren: Jacob and William.
