Five. Years.

Danny or Rat as he liked to be called was a great friend, neighbor, schoolmate, patriot and fellow service member. 

We lived across from each other in "Old Sunnyside" (The Harbor) and what I remember most about Danny was how he loved to tell jokes. As kids, we made up games and one of our favorites was "garbage can basketball" using old metal trash cans as a basket. Also, he was extremely proud of his heritage. Whenever I came to his house his dad would say "Kako Ste" (how are you) and Danny taught me to respond with "Dobro" (good).  

After High School we went our separate ways and each joined the Air Force. But Danny always stayed in touch. When his son was born, he brought his beautiful family to visit us at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs...he was one proud father! After I retired from the military, Danny again made the time to visit us in Mississippi. This was the type of friend he was.
 
I loved the words in the song that memorialized  him "when I go home I won't be walking because I have wings to fly." As much as we'll miss Danny, we can't lose heart because we'll see him again when we all reach that distant shore. Take care old friend...we'll never forget our Sunnyside brother!

Dear Susan,  
Thank you for sharing the information of Dan’s passing on Facebook.  Even though we have not spoken in many years I can still hear his voice, his laugh and feel his impact on my life these many years later.  From meeting and working with Dan on the 747 factory floor to having your family watch Sparkey when we lived on 51st Ave NE in Marysville Dan was always there to make our day a little bit better and to help a friend in need.   

Dan and I have chatted many times on Facebook over the years and I’ve said many a prayer during his recovery.  Though he’s not with us now. I’m glad I have had the blessing and pleasure to have met him in this life. I also look forward to seeing him again in the next.  

May God bless and keep you during the times ahead.

To Susan and Jennifer, 

I have had a hard time  of finding the right words to comfort the two of you.  Kum Danny loved you both with all his heart and I just know he truly touched a lot of people who  he came into contact with.  The East Chicago Washington Class of 1969 have been notified and have sent their condolences on our reunion site, FB and personal messages.  Kum Danny was funny, loved his baseball games, the Air Force, and his friends and family. He never forgot to send me a Christmas card each year and would always send me pictures of his children.  I will never forget when he came to help set up my patio furniture and brought his gun and the time I introduced the two of you to Flower Child.  Course he loved his Portillo hot dogs too, or how about the time we all went to Sedona and was speeding...I have such fond memories and I hope some of those memories will bring a smile to your face.  His dad was my Godfather and my dad was his Godfather.  I used to help Kum Danny’s mother  by getting her plane tickets to Seattle.  I definitely miss her pita! Kum Danny is an angel in heaven now, no more suffering but in my heart he will always be with you and watching over you. May his memory be eternal.  

My sincere condolences to the family. You will be missed my friend.  Memory Eternal.
 

Dan the Rat! We had so much Fun East Chicago Washington High School. Drinking a few with you was realy Funny. You would be up high in the Stans going Crazy as I went on fastbreaks with my Varsity Basketball Team! The Mighty Washington Senators.  We would Party after beating them Teams from Gary, Ind., Gray Roosevelt, Gary Freabol, Gray Tolliston. We would play in front of sell out crowds. I will never forget you Rat!!


To the family of Dan Bosnich,

I grew up knowing Dan and his older brother mostly by their nicknames, 'Little Rat' and 'Big Rat'. We were all part of the Serbian community in East Chicago, In. Many of our parents were immigrants and many of us were born in refugee camps in Italy or Germany.

Over the years Dan become more known to me through FB which included his work and his family. I especially enjoyed his sense of humor and his love for his family. Rest in Peace Dan. You were loved.

Dad, I hope you knew how much you were truly loved. The love everyone had for you is truly a remarkable testament to the type of person you were. I miss you so much but I am glad you are no longer suffering. Moving down to Arizona to be with you is a decision I will never regret because it brought us so much closer. I will cherish our memories and special bond till the end of times. I love you Daddy. May you Rest In Peace and May your memory be eternal. Xoxo

RIP Danny. I haven't seen you since the early 60's but knew you through my cousin Don Poskus. I'm sorry I couldn't make the lunch at Lake Pleasant but I had to work. Sunnyside rules!

Dan was one of the most intelligent people I've ever met  in my life.  Before he became my brother-in-law, I had the honor of being one of his friends. Dan and I used to hang out sometimes. We went to baseball games, parties, and to visit his other friends and relatives. He knew everybody, and I'll never forget the times when we used to go to his mom's house to eat dinner. Wow! That woman was so amazing, and the best cook I've ever met in my entire life. I loved her too.  I  will  always miss Dan. He was a very kind person who loved people and animals. He was a great brother-in-law and he always provided for my sister and their children. In my opinion, Mr. Dan Bosnich was an impeccable human being, and his passing is a great loss to our world. God bless his soul. I know I'll see him again in Heaven.    

It was great to get to know Boz! He was inspirational in my training at Boeing. Left me with many nicknames and great memories! RIP
