Herbert J. Kramer (Joe)(77yo) was a good, honest and decent man. Born in Germany, his father was an American soldier in the U.S. Army and his mother a German girl. They married and later moved to America when Joe was just 18 months old. His mother’s mother joined them a short time later. Raised by a soldier and two German women, Joe knew discipline from a very early age.
Joe grew up in the Seattle area, enlisting and serving in the Army National Guard for six years, earning an Honorable Discharge. Following his schooling, he became employed as an Aerospace CNC Machinist, where he worked and retired after 33 years. While employed at The Boeing Company, he met and married his wife, April. They lived south of Seattle for 15 years before moving to Arizona, where they then lived for 20 years.
Joe helped to raise April’s son Jason and Jason’s half-sister Karen for several years and was a good stepfather to them. The family loved to explore and go hiking and biking together, but his passion was reading western novels. He is survived by April and the children, as well as his niece Heike and grand niece Melina, who both live in Germany.
Battling medical issues for close to a year, he passed peacefully in his sleep, in the early morning hours of February 4, 2025.
There will be no services, and any remembrance can be donated to the HALO Animal Rescue in Phoenix, in his name.
Joe had a kind heart and will be missed by all who knew him.
