James P Thomas

James was born in Detroit Michigan on December 22, 1939 to the late John and Irene Thomas. James grew up in Detroit Michigan where he graduated from Notre Dame High School.

Shortly after graduation, James married the love of his life Susan Harnden. After having 4 children they decided to move their family to Petoskey Michigan. After raising their family in Petoskey, James and Susan moved to Ormond Beach Florida to enjoy retirement. James enjoyed worldwide travel, playing Golf and enjoying life with wonderful family and Friends.

James is preceded in death by his Wife Susan, parents; brothers John and Robert Thomas, sister Jeanne Rizzo and son in law Jeffery McKenzie.

James is survived by his 4 children Jim (Dotti) Thomas, Laurie McKenzie, Michael (Anita) Thomas, Susan (Sean) Martin, Twelve Grandchildren Katie (Jonathan) Baldwin, Jennifer (Lucas) Smith, Jeffery (Kelsey) McKenzie, Brittany Trevethan, Jimmy (Kat) Thomas, Christopher (Rachel) Trevethan, Kelsey McKenzie, Sarah (Joseph) Tatem, Julie (Kody) Alber, Ryan (Sammie) Trevethan, Macy McKenzie and Bailey (Jeremiah) Weld, Twenty four great-grandchildren, Landon, Kiah, Lucas, Brady, Michael, Ethan, Emma, Amelia, Daniel, Kenzley, Gannon, Trevor, Chase, Cooper, Colton, Kyler, Madilynn, Bentley, Harper, Matthew, Karsten, Bella, Luca, and Mia, Sister Marian Parker and sister-in-law Judy Brady, along with many nieces and nephews.

James was a wonderful Husband, Father and grandfather and will be missed everyday.

Services will be held for both Jim and Susan Thomas on September 21, 2024 at Cornerstone Church 1675 84th St SE, Caledonia, Michigan 49316 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow at Thousand Oaks Golf Club 4100 Thousand Oaks Dr NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49525
